Mum's Monday House of Shadows by Iris Gower

I love the start of the book already, although this is a sale/transaction and not an inheritance, this book/story reminds me of the BBC program ‘Ghosts’ with Charlotte Richie. The person selling the house is intriguing and, to me, isn’t quite as it seems. This book is becoming even more intriguing and is a very quick story/read. It is annoying, and I question ‘Why didn’t Riana go back and search for her bag in the ditch?’ just after writing that she did go back. I do realise two things one, should it have been obvious and I should have known that she would and two, should it have been mentioned sooner when she realised what had happened to her bag? This book is already an interesting read. I know this is a fictional story, but I love the idea of ‘Ghost weekends’ and wouldn’t mind going on one at the house myself. I myself am intrigued and love haunted places and without going into too much information about ghost investigations , I would go in as a sceptic and as of the nature of...

Fun Friday Murder at the Mansion

Oh, wow that was so quick, and now it is getting a bit predictable. However, how it will be carried out is not. This gives ‘Meeting the inlaws and no one is good enough for my little boy’ a whole new level. I do feel that ‘Coconut’ is going to be a factor. We can rule out most if not all of the cast as they are either in view or help out. I like how Ivy (Audrey Landers) has had a change of heart and now we have a suspect and now almost a change of heart. I don’t like Ivy. I see a possible 3 suspects or just 2 in it together. Ok, just one. No not the sauna. It is not nice to find out for sure of what happened on/to the boat and now it is sad to see another victim. I cannot believe that with everything going on they took a sauna. Oh, no there is another victim, this is so sad to watch. I also hate that a loss of a ring affects more than just one family member. Is the suspect I have in mind too obvious? This is becoming more sinister and I didn’t think that would have been possible....

Wildcard Wednesday A Killer in My Home

The script is not either as strong or as solid as I have seen, but this film is still a good light-hearted one. It is good in highlighting issues that may arise from having a second secret family. I do agree that it isn’t the child’s fault and that Allison (Bree Williamson) has a ‘Big’ heart. This is an intriguing mystery. I hate how a mother was treating her son. It could be a ‘Red herring’ so I don’t agree with it being in the film and/or used as a distraction. I do like the bonding between Allison and Joshua (Percy Hynes White). I do agree with ‘Trying to be understanding’ yes, I like the ‘Yellow Jeep’ but yes, it will be expensive with ‘Gas’. the script gets nasty which I don’t like. There are also a lot of arguing, bickering and disagreements in the script throughout. The breakin is a shock. I have mixed feelings about the money/donation. Yes, the money will do good, yes, the parents want to make their daughter self sufficient and yes, the money could make life easier. I wou...

Mum's Monday Hailey Dean Mysteries 2+2 = Murder

This film shows that ‘Social media’ can be useful. Yes, it has to be used carefully in the real world but it does have its uses. This film is very quick in setting up the mystery. Now all that has to be achieved is who and why. The school’s construction works just seem, to me, a little too obvious. Surely someone should be mentioning the man from the parking lot. Just as I thought this he was mentioned. This, to me, now has become a slower paced film. So now everyone who has been mentioned seems to be the least obvious person, so it could be anyone so/as far. I don’t like the script where Hailey Kellie Martin) is describing how Jeff (Carey Feehan) was whilst the ‘Car jacking’ was taking place. I feel it should have been less subjective and more streamlined, sticking to the facts in a believable realistic way. Well that was unexpected, and no I don’t think Jeff did it, also there is now a strong possibility of connections. I however, think/am conflicted the land is either too obvi...

Fun Friday A Deadly Lullaby

The suspense and tragedy is already growing in this film. The start of this film is an extremely strong one. One thing that I feel I have to question is ‘Why is the door open?’ Yes, I know that there is nothing wrong with the door being open but it does look random. Also I feel that for the progression and nature of this film the baby conversation has to start. I feel this is a very emotional, controversial and a difficult subject type of film. A lot is going on in this film. One, I agree that with ‘Shopping’ as a mum shouldn’t lose sight of herself and two, this film shows that you cannot take your eyes off a baby/child for a second. However, darker forces are at work so this part is, I feel, unfairly, heightened. This film shows all the stereotypical innocent traits or ‘Inviting your boss found for dinner’. Under normal circumstances this would be perfectly fine and this also reminded me of the parts in the BBC Sitcom ‘The Good Life’ with Richard Briers where Margo Leadbetter (...

Wildcard Wednesday Secrets at the Lake

At the start you can predict what is going to happen, however, afterwards it is not so predictable. I knew there was a connection and now I know what it is. It is different to what I thought it would be. I feel again that this is a revenge film. I don’t like how this is turning out. I also don’t like that the police are not following up on any leads. And yes, they should chase down every ‘Red SUV’ that is seen in the area, especially if it is known that it was also in the area at the time of the accident. Also I get the ‘Catfish’ story. The part with the arm and the happenings in the garage is not done well and is unbelievable. This could have been done so much better to achieve the same outcome that the people making this film wanted. I hate that Megan (Anna Hutchison) is deemed ‘Crazy’ and that she has the wrong person. This highlights the pitfalls of lending your car out and not knowing who is actually driving your car. I am glad the truth is out in one respect but not in anot...

Mum's Monday Secrets in a Small Town

There is a good strong start and who’d have thought that from something as simple as a red pepper there could be the result of a whole new sporting outcome/challenge. I felt that there was an underlying issue in this film. I don’t know if it is just me being paranoid or if it is something to it with an absent father or, more strongly, the fact that a group of teenage school girls are involved. Now I am not going to say that the girls should be fussed over to the extent of them being baby sat, but, I would have thought that a teacher/coach would have a ‘Duty of care’ if someone did get hurt. Also as well to build on this I don’t agree with the lack of discipline. I know sports people have to be tough, really tough, but following the rules is a must and shouldn’t be sacrificed. For the first time in a long while watching a mystery, I have no strong clues as to what has happened. I do see the obvious and have a suspect, but even that could be too obvious and why?, as I don’t see the...

Fun Friday Mommy's Prison Secret

Ok, this is interesting and intriguing. The script is good, especially ‘Emotional sniper’. A school shouldn’t be precidice, this is not nice to see. Now that is a strange way to ‘Celebrate’. However, the next scene is stranger. It is nice to see Taylor (Kelli Williams) free. It is inevitable that we would find all sorts of people in the prison system and maybe make a friend. In this case Meghan (Sarain Boylan) is a lively one and a good listener it seems. This is getting awkward. I have heard of a ‘Bond’ that can be created in a prison. It is lovely to hear Meghan talk about her and Taylor time in prison. Although it is not nice to see it suddenly turn sinister. However, I can see why and it is intriguing as to what actually happened, so much for getting back to ‘Normal’. This is interesting, I never knew that about the ‘Ankle bone’. I can see what is happening and it is sad to see Bianca (Niamh Wilson) is suffering because of the situation. Well that was a mistake in more ways t...
