Fun Friday Out Of The Earth by Arthur Machen

I love this story, at first I thought it was talking to and of God. Very quickly I then thought it was about evacuating children to the countryside during war time. However, this story is weirder than any of my thoughts. This story shows how, I would like to say, Chinese whispers work. How stories passed by mouth from person to person are sometimes embellished and exaggerated. I do believe, although it is written, I would say that the energy of these rumours/enhanced stories does help the ‘Children’ to materialise. Like I said I love this story. Wildcard Wednesday Misheard Song Lyrics Ben Langley BGT 2018

How many times have we sung a song and thought the lyrics were one thing only to discover that the actual correct lyrics are something else? Me all the time. This act takes it to a whole new, modern, level. I love it. To start with I love that Simon Cowell asked, it seems, one too many questions with the answer he got back. So the act begins, his energy and enthusiasm is brilliant. I have heard the first song joke before, so for me, I did wonder in what direction this act was going in. However, it was a brilliant, perfect and believable act, and also to include Amanda Holden was a cheeky genius risk to take but she did find it hilarious, so all good. Also I agree, ruining iconic songs with his memorable act. I would say, the risk of ‘Ear worms’ a song or lyrics you cannot get out of you head, is extremely high helped by such a great person with an excellent personality doing the act. Also I love that Ant and Dec came and laid out on the stage to watch and listen to the act. It wa...

Fun Friday The Great Return by Arthur Machen

I like the 2 short paragraphs leading to an investigation. I can’t wait to see what they find out. This is an intriguing story already. It is nice and useful that there are ‘Explanatory notes’ in the back of this book because I did look them up whilst reading this story, and it was interesting. I like the image I got from what I read of the ‘Paradise’. This is not a particularly easy story to read however, I do get the sense that there is an interesting, to me, paranormal aspect to this story. If this is so, I will love this story even more than I do already now. I am glad that within the story being told that ‘Tinnitus’, an ear condition, was written/mentioned. This shows an in depth and thorough understanding of one possible explanation as to what was heard and I could have easily come to the wrong conclusion myself, having personally known of people who have had that ear problem in the past. There have been many theories and stories about the Holy Grail. This is another clever...

Wildcard Wednesday Tenko

When the women first arrived at the camp I agreed that they should have put all their money together for essentials and not waste it on unnecessary items. However, as time went on there was more focus on staying alive and surviving within the camp rather than on unimportant matters. Now that the women have moved camps there are 2 issues 1. I thought that if the actresses wanted to leave the show that they would have to sadly, be killed off in some way, illness or shot. However, the script writers did a better clever way and had it written that as they had moved camps the group was split and some went to another camp and the ones that remained went into the camp we see in the on going series into series 2. This brings me to 2. Where Doctor Beatrice Mason (Stephanie Cole) was among the ones to stay in. now in the last camp she was not only rushed off her feet she exhaustively kept her post in scarce conditions for a functioning hospital. She did a fantastic job under the circumstan...

Fun Friday Robot Dog in Competition Zac Alsop

This YouTube video shows why we may have so much or too much need of ‘Red tape’. In this case the organisers may say that even more is needed, as a loophole has still been evidently exploited. I love this, 1. Genius idea and 2. The way it was done. I also love that Zac put so much effort into this video and it is amusing to see her finally realise it was all for a real competition. This, although, in this case is a ‘Freestyle’ dance and in the film Babe with James Cromwell based on the book The Sheep Pig by Dick King-Smith, is set around a Sheepdog trial, seem to me, very similar in the way this video was done. Rules were broken though and I don’t condone this in the control of the Robot, but, I do not believe that makes any difference to the  nature of what they are trying to achieve or the ultimate outcome of this video because of the odd situation in the first place. Oh, and another similarity, I love that he entered ‘Rupert’ into the competition just like when in the fil...

Wildcard Wednesday Mary P BGT 2022

So we all know the film Mary Poppins with Julie Andrews. This audition starts off all innocent and in the perfect Mary Poppins nature. The outfit is amazing as well. I love that they play along all the way on to the stage. This gives off the feeling of being cute also. The warm up part is so good and such a clever intro into the act. The tone is perfect. Oh, so now what do you do if it is the ‘Wrong song’?. Oh, I see that. Her talent is off the charts brilliant. I love that she never lost the Mary Poppins character and stayed perfectly in character. Amazingly yes, ‘Evolved’. Semi final Yes, Mary P let your ‘Hair down’. Love it already and the pink and blue outfit is so bright and vibrant. The singing is beyond incredible. I also absolutely love the background cars rocking along. The whole act is perfectly amazing and all newly fresh as well and yes, ‘In the most delightful way’. Even Simon Cowell liked it.. I loved, loved it Thank you for reading Sandra

Fun Friday Yes, A Dog Played The Piano BGT 2023

First of all Olga went on stage with the intention of her 2 dogs doing a dance act. Sadly, with 4 red Xs the act was deemed that the dogs were not actually dancing. Suddenly Olga announced that Bonnie, one of her dogs, could ‘Play the piano’. Simon Cowell was intrigued enough to basically say, come back another time and luckily they did. I loved the fact that they did. After seeing the clever Bonnie ride a scooter to the piano Bonnie sat like a pro in his cute little outfit at the piano and proceeded to play. Afterwards I agreed with the comments made by the judges and Ant and Dec. 1, yes, a little like ‘Jazz’ 2. Music from a horror film but yes music all the same. Writing his own music by the dog is a stretch but it would be nice if the notes were written down, although sadly, never to be repeated again exactly by Bonnie. I loved the act and it was good to see Bonnie getting his well deserved 4 yeses from the judges. Thank you for reading Sandra

Wildcard Wednesday Marc Metral & Wendy BGT

So this gentleman walks out on stage, it is a mystery until wendy appears. This is a ventriloquist act, what is so unique to make it one of my most favourite? Answer the puppet is a live dog called Wendy.  This is so funny to see and lets just say that Simon is overwhelmed to say the least. Just remind him that the dog’s name is Wendy. There was some controversy over the dog but there were extensive steps taken to check the dog was treated properly for the acts, and all was found to be ok. I can see the progression of the second act and again it was so funny. I actually felt sorry for Simon when Wendy didn’t want to invite him to her wedding.  Although, I did feel as though the act was trying too hard to be suitable for the ‘Royal Variety Show’ like if he had already won. However, as a stand alone act it was brilliantly unique and again so funny. Thank you for reading Sandra
