Fun Friday The Great Return by Arthur Machen

 I like the 2 short paragraphs leading to an investigation. I can’t wait to see what they find out. This is an intriguing story already.


It is nice and useful that there are ‘Explanatory notes’ in the back of this book because I did look them up whilst reading this story, and it was interesting.


I like the image I got from what I read of the ‘Paradise’. This is not a particularly easy story to read however, I do get the sense that there is an interesting, to me, paranormal aspect to this story. If this is so, I will love this story even more than I do already now.


I am glad that within the story being told that ‘Tinnitus’, an ear condition, was written/mentioned. This shows an in depth and thorough understanding of one possible explanation as to what was heard and I could have easily come to the wrong conclusion myself, having personally known of people who have had that ear problem in the past.


There have been many theories and stories about the Holy Grail. This is another clever version of it. I love it. This is an interesting story and yes, ‘What do we know?’

  I thought the same. So, where is she? If Lovejoy (Ian McShane) says ‘He will get one’ I suppose he will. Fun Friday Love Knots Lovejoy

  It is nice to hear about the history of a collectible antique as we very rarely get to know where or why things are as they are. I really feel for Jane (Phyllis Logan) and it is sad that Alex (Pavel Douglas) is saying all the wrong things. Also I agree he should be around more for her to ask. That was good timing. I do feel for Jane it is horrible to watch. Just as Tinker (Dudley Sutton) was talking about travelling in his dreams . i thought of the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang where Grandpa Potts (Lionel Jeffries) did most of his travelling through daydreaming and all of sudden Tinker spots a character in the auction room called Potts (Tony Caunter). This is a completely surprising coincidence. Now we hear Tinker talk about the interesting messages left and things are getting heated in the auction room. Fun Friday Eric Of Arabia Lovejoy

  It is an eye opener and quite true, can something be classed as original when parts have been replaced due to wear and tear?. This part reminded me of the TV program Only Fools And Horses with David Jason. Where the character Trigger (Roger Lloyd Pack) was going to get an award for having the same broom whilst working. This would have been fine if he hadn’t revealed that the broom had had so many new heads and so many new handles. Lovejoy’s (Ian McShane) take on this is not quite so amusing but works for the episode. This bike business is now getting amusingly action packed and cringingly dubbed. What a find.
