Mum's Monday Deadknobs & Doomsticks 2 by Joe Pasquale 17 of 18 series

Tales From The Lockdown What’s The Worst That Could Happen? What a terribly tragic story. I like and agree with the ‘No fault’ verdict. This sadly, highlights in an extreme way about being overstretched financially, also that the ‘New’ of everything isn’t worth it. I have always tried to live a relatively modest life with a few luxuries when i've had the means. I did think this story would be different although I suppose it does show the ‘Worst’ so the story is the answer to the title question and it is well done. Thank you for reading Sandra

Tales From The Lockdown “Un-Des Res” This is a strange and clever story. My first thought however, was in a house that size I would have thought that there would be more than 1 ‘Bathroom’. The least of the worries I know but it is a big house. And also I have been watching many programs of ‘Homes under the hammer’ with Martin Roberts. I love this story because I am curious by nature and love seeing around other people’s homes. I also do have to agree that a place does have a feeling because of when I first walked into my now home and quickly started planning it out, where things would go. I love the play on words and this is my kind of thing. Just like where the Australian soap Neighbours was set Erinsborough  which is intentionally almost an anagram of the word Neighbours.   Tales From The Lockdown The Wake Warning Spoilers With this story I knew it, as to what was going to, well possibly happen. I couldn’t be certain, but I was right and was wanting to read. I like that this story highlights that people have, sadly and accidentally, been buried alive, but what this story fails to mention is where the terms ‘Dead ringers, saved by the bell and the graveyard shift’ sayings comes from, where a person would sit in a graveyard to hear any bells that were rigged up inside the coffins to which any living person having been buried alive would ring and then be dug up. This was however, in the 1800s. Alas this no longer happens but may give peace of mind, to some, now in modern times, 2022, if it did. Thank you for reading Sandra

Tales From The Lockdown The Return of Harry Munk I like this story. It shows that you 1. Shouldn’t take someone for granted and 2. Take all the credit for some else's work. This is another new version of a pandemic story and although it mentions Stephen King’s book The Stand, it did also remind me of a book I read at school, where I believe, I remember right, an ageing disease wiped out all but a few people on the planet. Empty World by John Christopher. I also like how this story highlights the good work of the lessor known people who put in the hard graft to get the work done. Thank you for reading Sandra

Tales From The Lockdown See How You Like It This story makes me so glad that I am now a vegetarian. However, I also hope that this isn’t true. The moral of this story is right though. We all should be kind to everyone and everything. The world would be a much better place if this was what happened. The one thing in life that is certainly guaranteed and we have no way of knowing what happens. No one really comes back and tells us. Maybe on my next paranormal investigation I could ask.   Tales From The Lockdown Warning Spoilers No Good Turn What I feel about this story is ‘What if Hitler had died or had never been born?’ This question has been asked many times. So what I will say about this story is that because of the musical ‘Wicked’ by Winnie Holzman, the spin off from The Wizard of Oz byL. Frank Baum  has been mentioned in this story, I will say that it is worth seeing. I saw it in the West End London at the Apollo Victoria theatre. The closest underground is Victoria station. You can also check the website for show times and other details. I will also say that the universe has a way of getting things out there, as I have heard that more than 1 person Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, Philip Reis and Elisha Grey are linked to inventing similar devices. Also I have read the Stephen King novel 11/22/63. This is about, what if John F Kennedy hadn’t been assassinated, and this story turned out worse than what subsequently happened. Although it is...

Tales From The Lockdown Warning Spoilers Lyssa and Flavivi are not dead…just waiting Back in September 2019 my husband and I booked a holiday to go to Easter Island Chile South America for May 2020.we proceeded to have our required travel jabs, including ‘Rabies’ aka Lyssavirus. After the holiday was postponed we now. as of December 2022, have 2 years during which to try and rebook and get there. The coincidence, for me, is uncanny. I feel that during the pandemic other diseases seemed to get overlooked. Well apart from when I went for a blood test and was then rushed into hospital with low iron. Now after more tests and a major operation I am well again. I can relate very much to this story, where we do things from our ‘Bucket lists’ and having other diseases and illnesses there and waiting behind the scenes for Covid to pass, because of this I love this story. Thank you for reading Sandra

Tales From The Lockdown Leave It On The Doorstep I love this story. The phone conversions are perfectly well written. I am sure that there will be many stories etc written about the Covid Pandemic. There has actually already been a book written called ‘Lockdown' by Peter May, and wasn’t published because it was deemed too far fetched and would never happen. It was, however, published when the pandemic hit. I've read it, it basically is a good book and shows that the pandemic could have been a lot worse. Leave it on the Doorstep can be classed as one of the pandemic stories. I love the far fetched twist in plain sight in this one. Also it is right we don’t/didn’t know what our neighbours are like until a situation arises where we are at home for the majority of the time and they may need help. This is a fun and amusing lighthearted story about the pandemic. It doesn’t take away from the seriousness of it. It just offers a bit of light relief humour during a dark time. This sto...

Tales From The Lockdown Warning Spoilers Ghost in the Machine This is a very clever story. My first thought was that the ghost was in the TV, but I was wrong. I can imagine getting the answer that he got. This highlights that it is all about how you word a/the question to get the exact answer you actually want instead of the answer to the question you actually asked. This story reinforces why I will/rather not get an ‘Alexa’ where I would feel the world is listening. Also if tech was going to turn on humans this is one good modern example of that beginning to happen. This shows that simply swearing at inanimate objects or tech could lead to something bad on a whole other level. I would be afraid. Thank you for reading Sandra

Tales From The Lockdown Apart from that, what did you think of the play Mrs Lincoln? Warning Spoilers, if you don’t know the full story When I read the title, I didn’t make the connection, but obviously when I see the illustration and started reading, of course, I got it. I have heard that Lincoln’s wife used mediums for the rest of her life but I did check that I had heard right. A story that makes you/me interested enough to do more research yourself is a good one. I didn’t know about the ‘Curse’ and this is an interesting, if not a somewhat at times, intense version of the real life events of what happened. This does however, show that the story of Lincoln and subsequent events has been thoroughly researched. Thank you for reading Sandra

Tales From The Lockdown All That Glitters  Warning Spoilers When I started reading this story, I wondered where the title fitted in? You do need a strong stomach to read this story, it is extremely gruesome. Which in itself proves that it is well written/described. This story reminds me of the film The Mummy’ 1999 with Brendan Fraser. Where the Mummy (Imhotep) Arnold Vosloo, comes back to life whilst/by feasting on who or what they meet. Although you can work out what is going to happen, it is still a good read. I love it. I like that the ‘Postmortem’ explains the story more also this is an interesting scenario on a ‘Curse’ Thank you for reading  Sandra

Tales From The Lockdown The Sun Lounger This is a gruesome but fascinating story. I first thought it was a processed sun lounger but this is a much better idea. This does go to show what can be achieved with knowledge, research and an imagination. I love it. My advice would be from reading this story ‘Be careful what you use to make furniture and anything else. Thank you for reading Sandra

Tales From The Lockdown Close Your Eyes And Count To 9 This story, sadly, shows how devastatingly, wrongly it is for some little things to get out of hand and escalate into something extremely serious. I love this story despite what happens. The moral of this story is a strong one, I like it. I do feel that it is a bit cliche as to where buried, but this can be overlooked for the sake of convenience. I also love it because it's a bit biased but ‘Rain man’ with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise which is mentioned in the ‘Postmortem’ is one of my favourite films because about 30 minutes in Tom Cruise is no longer, to me, Tom Cruise, he is Charlie. And any film that can do that is an extremely good film. Thank you for reading Sandra
