Fun Friday Hayley Dean Mysteries Death on Duty

First a nice meal which sadly deteriorates quickly. I know this is going to sound/read trivia, but who paid for the meal? And yes, I think he should model, the thought of it could be fun. Well that was a twist to what I thought happened or is happening, oh, I now want to say ’Partly’ . If I am right then do we really ‘Know people’. Oh, I'm wrong, how tragic, what a tragic shock. Thank goodness for technology and surprisingly not being able to use it properly. That is the good thing about being independent and again technology as well. ‘Well’ I agree but he could have been a bit more tactful, especially trying to find out what could be crucial information. I am glad the next conversion goes better, well played to be allowed to go that way. It looks like she is going to be busy, she now has a photo shoot to go to as well. It is good/nice to see that once a lawyer, ever the lawyer, she got his back no matter what overall. Oh! That is so sweet and understanding. He will be fine, but ...

Wildcard Wednesday The Secret of Crickley Hall TV series

Episode 1 I like where this 3 part series starts, right back as to why they moved to Crickley Hall. the TV version is slightly different to the book by James Herbert. However, this is to be expected in some cases and it doesn’t take away from how good it is. I want to say that the suspense is there but, to me, personally it is lighthearted strangely. It may be because as I read the book first, I know what to expect or the book is more intense than the series. I would personally recommend reading the book first. The series is just as brilliant as the book, even with the differences. Episode 2 It is sad to hear what he asked Eve (Suranne Jones) as yes, she does would be the answer. I love the reference to The Shining by Stephen King. this is cleverly highlighted and amusing. I don’t agree, I believe all the answers are at Crickley Hall. I can see what they are trying to achieve, but I feel that it could be done in a slightly different, possibly better way. The script especially wit...

Mum's Monday The Devil Wears Prada

I like all the contrasting starts to this film, how they all get ready and the way they travel/ arrive at work. And now it is all systems go. She has arrived earlier than expected, it seems. Doesn’t she ever stop talking, but yes, I like when she says ‘Send her in’. It didn’t last long. I don’t like how it went on until, that is, the good outcome. Ok, yes, I know she works for a ‘Fashion Magazine’ but I don’t like the criticism of her clothes. But I suppose this is one of the points of the film. I have to admit I like the speech, she knows her ‘Stuff’, correction, the fashion industry. That is a lot of coats! And bags. Um, the weather, this is ridiculous, say something back. I feel a change coming on, well i hope. I think I can see what he meant when he said ‘You can’t do that job’. As it has already changed her. I do question where this film is now going, in what direction this will now take/go in? That is not good, and that is not good, not to mention the waste. I want to say ‘...

Fun Friday Hetty Wainthropp Investigates Episode Blood Relations

After watching Patricia Routledge as Hyacinth Bouquet spelt B U C K E T in Keeping Up Appearances Produced by Harold Snoad and then seeing this program. I thought I would watch to see the actress in a different light as another character.  I love the opening credits, it all looks like  jigsaw puzzles like piecing all the clues together to get a picture of who did it/what happened. I have to say that there isn’t a whole lot of difference between the two characters so far. I really don’t want to make too many comparisons but the bird scene does remind me of Onslow’s (Geoffrey Hughes) dog in Keeping up appearances. I am so glad she is not singing, sorry I’m sure she can sing as an actress. I'm sure ‘Sherry’ is normally fine. This is an intriguing episode. I like the idea of her being investigated. It is, I feel, a clever way of finding out what is happening to her. This is really good, well until, well at least, they do say the ‘Best place’ under the circumstances. Now thi...

Wildcard Wednesday Keeping Up Appearances series 1 to 5

Series 1 episode 1 Daddy’s Accident This is a good strong start, setting the scenes for subsequent episodes. It is all there. This is good as we see most of the characteristics of some of the main characters. With regards to the Major (Peter Cellier) I suppose this highlights that all sorts of people appeal to all sorts of people. Episode 2  The New Vicar Well I suppose it comes down to perspective in that ‘A large order’ or not. It is amusing to see a well placed garden tool. What a nice compliment from Richard (Clive Swift). All I can say is ‘She is well timed’ but I can see that no they don’t need any more bad luck. I like Elizabeth (Liz) (Josephine Tewson) . She comes across as a real true friend. The script at this part is one repetitive and two let’s just say, turns the air ‘Beep’. Episode 3 Stately Home I like the mellow conversation between Richard and Liz. The understanding between them is so obviously clear. Now I feel sorry for the Garage worker. Let’s just say ‘T...

Mum's Monday Black Book by James Patterson and David Ellis

WARNING SPOILERS The Black Book by James Patterson and David Ellis The start of the book ends on some good news, and now this book goes back to, as the book says on recent events, the past. Six officers are on surveillance; this is well described with some amusing parts interweaved. The surprise comes in the form of who they observe. The plot thickens. It now seems Billy Harney has made some very powerful enemies. With modern technology, just finding a black book gets even more complicated, as a black book doesn’t need to be an actual book, it is just the general term used to get the point of what you are looking for and what it represents across. Nowadays a black book, as says in in this story could be anything from an actual book to a computer or tablet. This proves sometimes technology, sadly doesn’t always make life easier. I have often wondered how and why the little details can get in the way of things, but a homicide cop doing a vice cop’s job doesn’t help or co...

Fun Friday Shadosmith by Ross Mackenzie

Shadowsmith by Ross MacKenzie This book gets off to a quick start and becomes creepy very fast. It is sad to see Kirby Simpson’s mum I hospital and I hope , one we will find out what happened to her and two that she recovers. We do find out what happened to Kirby’s mum quite early on which is good because as I read on I can focus more on what Kirby’s new acquaintance, Amelia Pigeon has to say and do. It seems the spiders are not the only and the least of Kirby and Amelia’s worries. We know from the beginning of the book what came through the crack/door. I am intrigued enough to read on. If you ever wondered how people became ill, this book may give an insight into a reason, well maybe not, but it is amusing to read, not for the workman though unless he lays off the bacon. I have in the past found out information that if you try to go to sleep you can’t and if you try and stay awake you nod off. Whether this happens every time , each one of us is different, but for ...
