Wildcard Wednesday Just Visiting Birds Of A Feather BBC

Yes, make the most of it , I'd say. It is a strange like/hate relationship between the two of them and Dorian (Lesley Joseph). I like the honest banter between neighbours. The pool is a big expense if not going to be used for a while. Oh, the irony, so funny. More irony. ‘Listen’ yes. Who’s that? I hope he is told the truth soon, oh well that could have gone better. Great parenting in the end though. Yeah, subtle. So amusing to hear. Well if you are going to make someone angry by speaking out. Wrongly that is. Thank you for reading  Sandra

Fun Friday Bridget Jones Mad About The Boy

When I first read the book, it didn’t make sense to me. From the end of Edge Of Reason to Bridget (Renee Zellwegger) being widowed with 2 children. I did question why it had been written because it was a sad and tragic scenario. However, after I saw Bridget Jones Baby and I knew what happened at the end, Mad About The Boy now makes sense.  Bridget’s story needed the baby film to fill the enormous gap between Edge Of Reason and Mad About The Boy. I like how this film shows Bridget navigate widowhood and in a respectful way getting back into dating again. I love how despite Bridget being Bridget she shows a certain level of maturity, showing a high level of character development in this film. I love that in some parts of this film it is quiet and sad and in other parts it is funny. Showing that life goes on after a tragedy. I can see why this is the last Bridget Jones movie as she has found her forever and it is beautiful to see.  Thank you for reading  Sandra

Wildcard Wednesday Nicked Birds Of A Feather BBC

Poor Sharon (Pauline Quirke) in more ways than one. That was a great piece of stunt driving. Even if it was slightly over the top. Why has Dorian Green (Lesley Joseph) got an au pair? Doesn’t that mean children? A good sadly lucky guess. It is nice to see Sharon enjoy herself. It is inevitable she was going to apologise. I love the pun. So amusing. I love the script in the court scenes. I love that they are there for each other. Thank you for reading  Sandra

Fun Friday Lean Fall Stand by Jon McGregor

This has a disturbing disorienting start. I love it. I am intrigued already. This does highlight about staying close in a group in a dangerous situation. I love the description of all the preparation for a trip to Antarctica. This, although subtly goes into technical language, this is to be expected in the nature of the story and adds depth to it. I love the realism in this story. I love the written camaraderie between the 3 of them, although I suppose with the place and situation they are in it is essential they do get on. Although jumbled, it gets across that something is indeed wrong. This is a brilliantly written story. This story is exceptionally well written again with the descriptions of what has happened. I love it, I don’t want to put this book down. This is cleverly written.  What a confusing ending, however, I do think I know what was meant by it. It is brilliant overall. I loved this book and I love how the title was incorporated into this book. I am going to mis...

Wildcard Wednesday Les Miserables 2012

I bought this DVD because I saw the stage show, not realising that it was still a musical. However it is brilliant to see the stage show brought to life in the, I can only describe as, the outside world. The acting and singing is brilliantly well done. I love this film. Thank you for reading Sandra

Fun Friday Les Miserables by Victor Hugo Sondheim Theatre London Feb 4th 2025

Warning spoilers I can see why so many people see this stage show so many times. It is phenomenal. The music is so recognisable as it has been played and/or used in so many different places and situations. I love it. The youngsters in it were brilliant and extremely talented. I was wowed by them.  The storyline was nothing like what I was expecting, including the main female character changing during the show. The set was as real looking as it could be, which was amazingly so. Despite the sad parts it was overall a brilliant show. Thank you for reading Sandra

Wildcard Wednesday The Stand The Stand part 4

I love his statement about the way they were all sent out. It is a chance to start again, a second chance. The scenes when Flagg (Jamey Sheridan) gets angry seem far-fetched and ridiculous. I hate all the tragedies. However, I love the camaraderie. I hate the loss, but on to the ‘Ok’. What a beautiful heart warming ending. Thank you for reading  Sandra

Fun Friday The Stand The Betrayal part 3

This part is the start of the consequences of the spread and devastation of the disease. The story has moved on pretty quick. This is a bit bitty, the story doesn’t flow very well. What they are doing is all ok and right and well thought out though. Thank you for reading Sandra

Wildcard Wednesday The Stand The Dreams part 2

I like the special effects. I like that they scaled down the horror on screen more than what was written in the book by Stephen King. It is a relief. Still brilliantly done. Thank you for reading  Sandra
