Wildcard Wednesday Tiny House of Terror

This film starts off with a scary realisation, high-lighting the danger of that with technology, using voice command, setting it to recognise one voice is not a good idea, seeing as the person ‘Host’ recognises has in this film gone missing. I can see this problem can/could swap to a real life scenario. ‘The engine went crazy’ I thought we had swapped to a ‘Herbie’ scenario, but, yes, the magnetic problem is a more realistic/believable reason. First impressions, I like the little house. The clever compactness of it is cosy. I can also see that this sort of house could be a solution to a housing problem. This is more than just a techno ‘Tiny house of terror’. This is a very grown up, clever and problem solving ideas film. A worst nightmare, where did all those spiders come from? This is or is turning into a strange film. The scenery is spectacular though soon to be built on. Yes, it is ‘Cute’ but, sadly, it seems something is wiping texts and Sam’s (Francia Raisa) ring has gone missing....

Mum's Monday Angels Passing by Graham Hurley

I want to say that this book starts by ‘Hitting the ground running’ but in truth the poor girl has hit the ground face up. This is a strong start, also quickly swapping to another story line of a possible break-in planned. I can see how a CCTV system could be useful and I like how much possible evidence you can get from a mobile phone, more, if not too many people have handled it. It is sad but true most things just come down to money/a budget, but that is life. Also it is tragic yet intriguing to hear Helen’s mother talk about her daughter, what she says is a clever piece of writing in its simplicity but says a lot in the nature of the case. This is not a fast paced story/book and I am personally finding it hard to get into. However, I do, and I am determined to read this book because one, it is a good intriguing story and two, it is set in Portsmouth, a place I have visited. I am also hoping that it does mention the ‘Dockyard’ and Nelson’s ship The Victory and King Henry the 8t...

Fun Friday His Perfect Obsession

The start of this film highlights that if you are on the phone walking in the street, you have to be careful. It also shows that if a person loses one or more senses, in this case Abigail (Ali Skovbye) is blind, their other senses are heightened to compensate. This is very dark, the accountant Bart (Brendan Murray) is a seriously strange and dodgy character. Allison's (Arianne Zucker) husband has a low opinion of Bart. This is quickly building tension. People have opinions of the profession of accountancy, like it is boring. This film goes a long way to change my opinion of an accountant. I suppose everyone has their breaking point, but I would say that yes, he is a little too obsessed, for anyone or any profession. I sense there will be more victims. I know who I first thought, but now I don’t think the mother will be one of them, but others may be. And what is this obsession with Mike’s Sugar Shack? The actor who plays Bart is a really good one; he swaps from good to evil in it...

Wildcard Wednesday The Radio Talk Show Killer

‘The Doctor Jill show’ (Georgina Haig) I like the advice that Doctor Jill gives over the radio. It does all make sense. Sadly, unfortunately some of it is tragically misinterpreted. It shows/highlights that you have to be very careful what advice you do give out. This can be dangerous with a wide range of listeners of all different attitudes and ways/lives. The shock scenes are perfectly done/acted. I understand why Doctor Jill is now off air. What I don’t like is that everyone seems to be putting money, ratings and not taking Jill’s emotions into consideration after what happened. Although What happened wasn’t necessarily Jill’s fault. I feel that a little respect as to how she is feeling wouldn’t go amiss. ‘Do a show you want’ that may work? It is also lovely to see someone Jill did help. It is also now nice to see her back. I hope she knows what she is doing?. Yes, she’s got it. I don’t like Ron (Jonathan Dubsky). He has Jill back, against the odds, the show went well after th...

Mum's Monday Us

Episode one, The concept of this series is brilliant. The reaction to the separation conversation is well done and realistic. The flashback scenes are not great and seem, at the moment, to me, unnecessary. The list is well thought out and so the holiday begins. The flashback scenes are becoming clearer as to why. I suppose when there is a possible split you sometimes have to go back and try and recapture why a couple got together, fell in love and got married. I would say at the moment it is a typical holiday well as typical as it can be with an organised money conscious Dad. The scooters are a fun touch. Now, awkward in so many more ways than one. I have just realised that Douglas (Tom Hollander) and Connie (Saskia Reeves) are like and remind me of the characters Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) from the American sitcom series The Big Bang Theory. I wouldn’t like to think of them splitting up but this series Us is like a glimpse into their future as Leonard and P...

Fun Friday A Killer Engagement Matchmaker Mystery

Angie Dove (Danica McKellar) is great at matchmaking, really good, however, it is comforting to know, if a little stereotypical cliche that at home things are not so love dove. Her parents although happily married live 1500 miles apart and with two recent relationship breakups for Angie suggests she should look at getting her own advice and acting on it. The engagement party, sadly, not everyone is happy for the couple and now the police are involved. I am confused about the part about the engagement ring, to me, the script is not clear but the rest is very very clear as to what Angie saw. After some devious yet, good advice Angie is back at the crime scene. Sneaky but has to be done for the film to progress. I was then thinking that Angie was like Miss Marple by Agatha Christie as she was also thought of as interfering in cases whilst offering her observant intuitive opinions. When, this happened, when Angie was asked basically what did she want to say, she gave the officer some...

Wildcard Wednesday My Husband's Secret Wife

The brightly coloured start to this film suddenly turns sinister. I am glad it turned out ok in the end. Although I did think two months is really quick just after meeting someone. I can see why her sister would be unsure, as it was mentioned about her knowing everybody in her situation. There must be a secret as the title of this film gives it away on the basis of it. The part about the ‘Horseshoe’ is interesting. I always thought that a horseshoe had to be the right way up to hold in all the luck and if it was upside down all the luck runs out of it. Now in this film an upside down horseshoe means ‘All the luck rains down on anyone who walks under it’. I haven’t heard of this before, but still plan on having my horseshoe’s points pointing up. It is interesting that a small part in the script got me thinking like this. I love the gesture with the buttonhole it is, although a small thing, so brilliant. Sometimes it is just the little things that can make a difference/mean something/alo...
