Wildcard Wednesday Lanzarote by Michel Houellebecq
I don’t like his thoughts whilst deciding on a destination.
Chapter 2 tells of a mix of ideas I wouldn’t normally think of putting together. This is interesting so far.
Now in 2024 I wouldn’t say Lanzarote has a limited range of activities on offer.
I don’t like some of his descriptions although some are true , not all of them.
I don’t like all the negativity in this book however, it is still a good read to bring on a Lanzerote holiday.
I like the history written into this book.
The descriptions are thoroughly written and this story gets straight to the point. I love it.
First of all, ‘Poor Rudi’. I don’t agree with what he is going to do but each to their own.
Again it is really well written.
Be aware that this book covers some hard hitting terrible criminal acts. It turns dark very quickly.
This is an incredibly unusual book to read. I was hoping for more information but as they say ‘Always leave them wanting more’.
If you would like to visit Lanzarote there are as mentioned in this post a few activities to do on the island and beyond including, the cactus gardens. They are really pretty with a great variety of unusual cacti. Be aware as you walk around it has uneven surfaces and uneven steps. You can also go camel riding (not the one mentioned in the book) Lanzarote Safaris, you can go on a ride for 20 minutes and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. There is also an opportunity to visit another Canary island of Fuerteventura. Although the tickets are reasonably priced you could still search out a good deal online for a day return trip. It takes about 30 minutes by ferry each way. Another place is the Timanfaya national park, it was very busy and to get through the gate was 40 euros per person plus the cost of any activities on top. However if you carry on down the road you come to a visitor centre where it is very informative and free to get in. There are other activities including water sports and a dolphin sunset boat trip. This was brilliant as we see a lot of dolphins, although these sightings are not guaranteed on every trip, the cake and drink served on the trip wasn’t worth it and there is no need for it to be there.
Thank you for reading
Sandra
