Wildcard Wednesday The Lake Of Dreams by Kim Edwards
This is already an intriguing start. Although this has a strong start/set up to this story, this is a slow paced book, coupled with the long chapters, which is one negative for me. This is, however, described and written really well. I don’t think this is going to be an easy book for me to read but I will persevere with it as I like the story so far.
The part about the papers seems, to me, random and too quick. I feel that this part could have been written in a better way of finding them. The rest of the story is nice to read again so far, apart from the tragedy of losing her father and her mother’s accident that is.
This story is well written, capturing the real essence of coming home from a long trip far away. Meeting up again with people from the past. I like this type of story. I have mixed feelings as to how I would like this story to work out. I like the idea of less responsibility but not returning to your roots as like going backwards in life. I like Lucy.
I like how as the reader we are following the mystery, just like a murder mystery, along with Lucy.
It is amusing that she asked what day it was. This book is well written. Lucy is doing everything anyone would do when there is a mystery.
Although this is not an action packed story it would be nice if this was made into a TV series or a film, if only to see the decorative fabric and the windows. I reckon this would make a calming feel good program/movie.
This book reminds me off and could be included in an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? With Mark Strong as one of the Narraters, where celebrities research their family ancestry.
I didn’t want to put this book down. What a book it is worth reading, and what a lovely ending.
Thank you for reading
Sandra
