Mum's Monday Bargain Hunt
Bargain Hunt is where 2 teams compete with £300 and have 1 hour around an Antique fair or shopping location, to buy 3 items. 1 has to cost more than £75, 4 items to buy 4 X £75 = £300 so average £75 per item, and there is a challenge set by the host of that particular episode, to then send them to auction to make a profit. Profits on all 3 items wins them the amount of money the team has made and ‘The Golden Gavel’.
Pre pandemic 2020 the program changed from showing the ‘Bonus’ item bought by the teams expert with any money left over from the shopping day on the end of the shopping day to revealing it after the first 3 items have been sold, to see if the team had made a profit of loss. Which was then sold so we, as viewers, would see how the team had done. To then change it to leaving the teams to crowd around a small tablet held by the host to see the ‘Bonus’ buys being sold. Which looked badly and clumsily directed.
After Lockdown and following the rules of social distancing it was good to see that they reverted back to showing and selling the bonus buys directly after the teams first 3 items.
I can see why the program decided to bring in new rules, as the teams started to not spend hardly any money out of their allowed £300. However, I feel that 2 out of 3 of the item choices have been taken out of the contestants hands unless they had already planned to buy something that covers the challenge.
It does seem a bit repetitive sometimes but now and again there are a few surprise amounts made and won.
Thank you for reading
