Fun Friday Homes Under The Hammer

This is a lighthearted day time TV programme where people buy properties at Auction(s) with the main intention of developing it.

This programme has been on for many years and despite bringing in new presenters showing us, the viewers around the properties and giving good advice, in the form of the ‘3 Golden Rules’

View the property before you buy it, an example,  there could be more work needing a bigger budget to be done.

Read the legal pack, for example as some properties are unmortgageable due to maybe short leases, built from a non conventional material or there might be more fees to pay than you have budgeted for. And

Do your research, for example,  there might be a ‘Ceiling’ price in the area and if you did an expensive refurb you may not get your money back and make a loss instead of a profit and the area might not have what you need or too much of what you don’t want.

This programme has become repetitive and, I feel, is it worth watching the same developments for a few shockingly good surprise transformations, a few interesting ones like a wartime development or where they even failed to develop for any reason.

However, my favourite development was where a studio flat got transformed into a 1 bedroom flat. The property had a large living room/bedroom, a small bathroom and a large kitchen. The developer kept the living room  as a living, changed the kitchen into an ensuite bedroom and turned the small bathroom into a small but workable kitchen. I still remember and love the clever use of space to this day February 2023.

Thank you for reading
