Fun Friday Slumdog Millionaire

It is one of those films for me personally that I hear all the interviews about it from the cast members and all the hype about it and so when facing a 5 to 6 hour overnight flight from Newark in New Jersey to London Heathrow Airport on United Airlines. The 7th/8th February 2022. I recognised this film and I was intrigued and so I thought I would watch a light hearted quiz show film and try to play along by answering some of the questions for fun, oh, was I wrong, in a good way that is. Once I had watched, let's just say it was so memorable and good that I had to buy the DVD with some of my leftover holiday money.

It is sad to see what happens at the start of this film but there is nothing to tell, if he ‘Knew the answers’ and now the film unfolds. And where to start, from the beginning, of course. The music/soundtrack is a perfect choice.

Ew, the things we do to meet our heroes, ew. I can also believe that sometimes you just don’t want to ‘Know the answer’ as well.

That is a mean trick, but kids will be kids even surprisingly under their circumstances. I hate the next part. I can’t watch it. I now love the boy’s initiative to survive.

It is nice that the police officer is beginning to be captivated by asking questions about his life so far. Again the music/soundtrack is perfect.

I have never visited the Taj Mahal in Agra India, but I am pretty sure there is another story connected to it, but, yet, this is amusing and light heartedness to hear. Also I am sure the Guide books were written by professional tour guides/authors as well.

So the questions keep coming and also the stories/memories as well, all with a perfect soundtrack as well.

This is ‘Edge of your seat’ stuff, in more ways than one, and so, so close. I love the dance number ending. What a film.

Overall this film is harrowing in a lot of places but ultimately heartwarming. Well worthy of the 8 Oscars it won. Also be prepared to read subtitles in this film.

This film just shows that people, love and things can be/are more important than money, that there is more to life than money. The line ‘I went on, because I knew she’d be watching’ says it all. I did wander/was intrigued to know why/how he ended up on the show as well as the police officer wanting to know also.

And now we know.

Thank you for reading

Sandra
