Fun Friday My Mother is a Murderer

When I heard the title of this film my first thought was that ‘There was no mystery’. It gives away who did it in the title, so I suppose the mystery comes in how they work out who did/is/happening. This, to me, is intriguing. Yes, this is a ‘Thriller ‘ overall. Well that was strange but yes, shocking I may have my mind working overtime but I think there may be a twist to this somewhere. Also I cannot see how this film got the title it has, unless I am missing something as yet or it is yet to be shown. They say ‘Out of the mouths of children’ I am glad she is ok. I know who she is and what happened. Again I am not sure where the title fits. I don’t get that in the world of the internet if she has suspicions surely curiosity would get the better of her and a search on the web would help. I hate how she is being treated with the situations being twisted. I hope the truth comes out soon and there is a reunion. Oh, that is so shockingly sad. This is such a tragic film to watch. I hat...

Wildcard Wednesday Murder In-Law

It is horrible to see and listen to a critical dinner party after it is nice to hear the big news. There is a huge bond between mother and son. This is a quick film for the tragedy to start/unfold. I also love to get tickets to a show that I would really want to see. I can relate to that and it is lovely to see. I hate that even under the circumstances the digs keep coming. Why can’t her son see what is happening. Worse still she can now hide behind her, so called, grief. I feel really sorry for her family. No, don't be really glad and also fear her. I hate that she has no boundaries and is taking over. I hate her attention seeking ways. It is a good script. This is interweaving on a huge scale. Yes, it is over the top but it is well done in such a natural way. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, it shockingly does. Again no boundaries and I do not believe the explanation. She, I believe, is in control. I hate how she twisted her words. I want to say cleverly manip...

Mum's Monday Killer Secrets in the Snow

When I saw the title of this film, although I don’t like snow I still thought ‘Why not?’ Also the snowy scenes may be nice to see and I will not be walking in the snow, so it would be ok to watch. The epic sweeping scenes at the beginning reminds me of the start of ‘The Shining’ with Jack Nicholson however, this part is very much shorter. It is strange as to why she got out of the car and I agree she should mind her own ‘Business’. I suppose you just have to know what you are doing. I like the ‘Popsicle’ way of meeting over the other story. Even the one that could explain the job she does. And now they have a visitor and such a strong accusation. Now a lot of night time activity. Now it is morning and this film is lighter. It is a shame about the ‘Birthday party’ but I do like the ‘Back up plan’ . I think I know what happened or is still happening. Now what? This film is intriguing to watch. Well that didn’t end well, well I suppose it was inevitable. It was however, brave yet, I...

Fun Friday The Good Life Xmas Silly, But It's Fun

So it is Christmas time in the Good’s self sufficient household. I love the Christmas ‘Vultures’ with resourceful red breasts. And I love that the animals are getting Christmas as well. It is so funny with the holly, mistletoe and the enormous, top snapped off, Christmas tree. I also love the Yule Log and the cute big robin with it’s too many wrong heads. Well Margo (Penelope Keith) is having trouble with Bill (David Battley) the Tradesman ‘8 foot 5 and ¾ inches’ is sadly not ‘9 foot’. I don’t like that Margo is so picky and has an extremely high unreasonable expectation of customer satisfaction. And I don’t agree as Christmas is not supposed to come in a ‘Van’. I love what Bill said about Barbara’s (Felicity Kendal) eyes though. I can see why Jerry (Paul Eddington) would want a nice simple Christmas. Now over at the Good’s Tom (Richard Briers) has made none ‘Bang’ crackers. I however, don’t like Tom listing all the things they haven’t got, as he should see and list what he does ...

Wildcard Wednesday Cold Sacrifice by Leigh Russell

Although this is technically a murder mystery, this book although harrowing in  places is actually easy to read. I do however, have mixed feelings on the circumstances of DS Ian Peterson’s private/married life though. This complex situation, with so many unspoken issues that I personally wouldn’t want to comment on them. The part about the interaction between the youngsters and the police made me roll my eyes. After this it was good, although not all nice, to read the gist of that a police officer is only human after all. This would, I hope, would bring comfort to someone else if they have the same or any reaction to a dead body. I cannot believe that he would be worried about his wife especially after finding a murder victim, still a phone is important. This part, strangely, made me smile. It is good that I very quickly find out why this book has the title it has and it is a brilliant, clever idea for a murder mystery. I like it a lot, love it even. This book is quite easy ...

Mum's Monday The Green Green Grass Christmas special

Warning Spoilers The Green Green Grass – Christmas special Following on from the last episode of series one, this Christmas special sees, Rocky the bull is still gay. Farmer Aubrey Boyce (John Challis) has a plan to sell him at ‘The Christmas Ball’ held in a hotel in Somerset. Also with all the worry about Elgin Sparrowhawk’s (David Ross) ‘Farm Manager’ operation it comes to light and is so funny to hear of what you have to do if you are an astronaut going into space. One I can agree with, but the other is so amusing and easily fools Bryan (Ivan Kaye) and Jed (Peter Heppelthwaite ). When Aubrey Boyce says something is good business, I cannot agree. He hasn’t seen any accounts/books, the area where the new Polo place is being built or anything. Things are now taking a dark turn and while Elgin is recovering in more ways than one, Merry Christmas to the Boyce family and staff including the highly disliked acting ‘Farm Manager’, Santa has sent snow and lots of it. Now the cab dri...

Fun Friday The Green Green Grass

WARNING SPOILERS The Green Green Grass, The Green Green Grass is a spin off and written by the writers of ‘Only Fools and Horses’. The first episode is a good strong solid start to the series, and in-keeping with the ‘Only Fools and Horses’ nature of it. So the Boyce family have arrived at ‘ Winterdown Farm’, Boycie (John Challis) Marlene (Sue Holderness) and their son Tyler (Jack Doolan ). The second episode and the Boyce family are settling in. it turns out ‘ Winterdown Farm’ is a farm with staff. We first met the very definite ‘Farm Manager’ Elgin Sparrowhawk (David Ross) ‘Farm Manager’ in the first episode and now there is the ‘Herdsman/Stockman’ Bryan ( Ivan Kaye) and the ‘Ploughman’ Jed (Peter Heppelthwaite ). Boycie after being charmed and realising there is an advantage to be had, running the farm agrees to run their new place as a farm, and so the comic staff meeting begins. Last of all we meet the, what can only be described loosely as ‘The housekeeper’ Mrs Ca...
