Wildcard Wednesday London by Edward Rutherfurd

London by Edward Rutherfurd This book is about London; I am surprised of how far back the history is written in this book. Right from the melting of the ice age and the formation of the river, we now know as the Thames that flows through London. We now meet Segovax’s family amongst others living by the river in Londinos , as it was called in the past. It is interesting to read about the ups and downs of Segovax’s family life, but what does keep me reading is the threat that the Romans would invade. It is the case of when, so me as the reader is just waiting for the invasion to happen as we know from history they eventually do. There is a certain amount of tension and anticipation in the story. It is however, nice to see Segovax eventually sees the sea. We now see that London is now becoming more built up by the Rom ans and that it is now called Londinium and it is interesting to read that the river Thames was then called by the name of Tamesis . It is fascinating to rea...

Mum's Monday My Husband's Evil Twin

AKA The Wrong Husband I am sure I have seen something similar before but this is a good idea for a film. However, this sort of thing does put me on edge, as, if the evil one slips up. Although the script writers have the responsibility of whether that happens or not. Also how it all pans out and the outcome. If ever there was a reason not to be a nosy interfering neighbour this film certainly shows it. This is tragically sad to watch. This film is good as in that it shows how awful someone can be in nature/character. I am glad that it is showing the wife to be instinctive in that something is different. It does show this film to be realistic and intelligent. This is good. I can see why another woman would be happy for someone receiving flowers, but a wife would know if something is off with that. It is difficult to explain to someone that you see the flower gesture as not the norm. Oh, no, another tragedy. This film certainly is living up to one of it’s titles. This film has ...

Friday Fun Awakened by James S. Murray and Darren Wearmouth

Awakened by James S. Murray with Darren Wearmouth At the start of this book it highlights the importance of a thorough survey before digging a subway train tunnel. The realism and the right level of suspense is really well written and yes everything is perfect. The pavilion has everything you would want as a passenger using the Z Train in New York city. All the awaiting dignities and press, you would expect to see on such an occasion, want now on this maiden run of the train , is the train and passengers to arrive. Sadly, although the train does arrive the passengers have been replaced by lots of blood splatters inside the train carriage. This is a fast paced story. This story also highlights the fine line between keeping a man, not just any man, in this case the president of the United States of America safe and a president wanting to put his countries people first. This reminds me of a captain on a sinking ship. The captain is the last one to leave or goes done with his ship, e...

Wildcard Wednesday Mary Ann Cotton Dark Angel

Mary Ann Cotton Dark Angel, Britain’s First Female Serial Killer by Martin Connolly. Chapter one, I like where this book starts, right at the beginning when Mary Ann’s parents were born, lived then married, Mary was then born. It does explain the hardship that Mary was born into. Chapter two, with all the diseases of the day and the health system not as it is today, I can see how it was gossiped about when Mary Ann lost the majority of her family and subsequently received the insurance claims. Chapter three, sadly, it seems back in the past even though the information was written down on official documents it cannot be trusted to be right/correct. Chapter four, this book very much high-lights the need for the modern day ‘Background’ checks and ‘References’ that we have in place today in 2020. Chapter five, the two letters are difficult to read in this short chapter. They are interesting in the content as well as in the spelling in them. Chapter six, it is a fairly common trait that if ...

Mum's Monday Doctor Sleep by Stephen King

Warning spoilers Doctor Sleep by Stephen King This book starts off where ‘The Shining’ left off. Although three years have passed, we don’t need to know too much detail of what happened directly after Wendy and Danny left the Overlook hotel, but there is just enough written about that time to let us know but no to bore us. Now that things have moved on the next chapter in Wendy and Danny’s life can properly begin as in this book. It is a good idea this sequel to ‘The Shining’. As if you have the shining gift you do keep it as you grow up, so here it is, and Danny is growing up. H allorann’s story that he told Danny is truly a horror story to start this book. I like how this book references that someone with the shining feeds energy to the ones that have passed to come and visit, and it also makes them stronger for them to do so. I also like the ‘Box’ idea, a simple but effective solution so far. In the chapter called ‘Rattlesnake’ we are introduced to some more characte...
